Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle believes Lewis Hamilton can reach Michael Schumacher's two biggest records.

The Mercedes driver achieved his 75th Grand Prix victory this past weekend in China, moving him to within 16 of the German legend's remarkable tally of 91.

In doing so, he also took the championship lead for the first time this year as he looks to move within one of Schumacher's total of seven.

"If Mercedes continues on the same footing, chances are that in a few years we will look at Lewis' seventh world title and perhaps his 100th victory," Brundle said in the latest F1 Racing magazine.

Reaching both those marks would be incredible, given how unprecedented they appeared when Schumacher reached them.

But recalling past comments by Hamilton himself, Brundle admitted there would be some irony in the Briton's achievements.

“Looking back to the Red Bull era, when Sebastian won four world titles, Lewis was a bit dismissive and constantly shouted that he had the best car," he said.

"Which is, of course, funny when you consider what Lewis has had in the last five years."
