Robert Kubica has admitted it may be upto Williams to decide if they wish to retain him for 2020.

His future has come into question in recent weeks as he struggles for results against teammate George Russell, even finishing a full lap down in Canada.

Then on Monday, his sponsor PKN Orlen acknowledged the options were open regarding Kubica's place for next season, with the Pole now responding to those comments.

“What will happen to me next year does not depend only on me,” he was quoted by GPFans.com.

“We will see what opportunities appear and what I want to do. I do not see any question marks, but there may be some compromises if it is not possible to bring the expected performance.

“I am not saying that this is the case now, but this situation may happen.”

As it stands, despite speculation already linking Nicholas Latifi to his seat, Kubica believes any talk about 2020 is premature.

“At this point, I’m not focused on the future,” he added.

“I have lived my life, some things I’ve done better, some things worse, but it’s not like I’m not going to go on.

“It’s too early in the season to say more except that not everything depends on me.”
