Uncertainty over Rich Energy tweet as Haas and investors deny split

Uncertainty reigns over whether Rich Energy has decided to split with the Haas F1 team following a tweet on Wednesday.

In a post, the drinks brand declared they were cutting ties with the American outfit, rather distastefully claiming they have entered Formula 1 to challenge Red Bull and ended up behind Williams in Austria.

On Thursday, however, Haas denied anything had changed in a statement.

"Rich Energy is currently the title partner of Haas F1 Team," team boss Guenther Steiner declared.

"I cannot comment further on the contractual relationship between our two parties due to commercial confidentiality."

Further reporting is claiming company investors were also baffled by the tweet which was not authorised by them and efforts are now underway to try and fix the clearly very damaged relationship.

All of this just adds to the sense of bewilderment at how Rich Energy have handled themselves in trying to promote themselves through F1.

Initial efforts to buy Force India failed last year before the team suddenly announced a deal with Haas to the surprise of Williams, who had been in talks with the company.

Recently, Rich Energy also lost a lawsuit over logo copyright and was told to hand over details of their financial deal with Haas via a court order.

Let's just hope none of this madness has any impact on Haas.
