Expectations are high at Racing Point as the team introduces the first stage of a 'B-spec' car for the German Grand Prix.

The Silverstone-based outfit has been trailing for much of the season, with the initial RP01 design compromised by the hangover from last year's financial issues and takeover.

Hockenheim, however, is expected to see a significant step with Auto Motor und Sport claiming the rear section of the substantial upgrade will be introduced with the front coming next week in Budapest.

“Everything except the chassis is new. Previously, an upgrade like this would not have been possible,” technical director Andrew Green told the German publication.

Despite the underwhelming car, Racing Point has had a solid year, sitting seventh in the Constructors' standings.

But amid the wait for this upgrade, results have slumped with no points scored since Canada.

“I hope Germany will be a turning point in our season,” Sergio Perez declared.

“I’ve been unlucky lately, especially in Silverstone last week where we deserved to get a decent result.

“I believe we can make some good steps with the car before the summer break and hopefully our luck will change too.

“I believe in the work we are doing and I know it’s just a matter of time until we get back to where we belong – scoring points.”
