McLaren CEO Zak Brown has ruled himself out of replacing Chase Carey as Formula 1 chief executive.

The past few months have seen speculation as to who will be the American's successor, with the expectation being he will step down at the end of 2020.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and Red Bull's Christian Horner are two figures who have both denied they are interested and now Brown is the latest to add his name to that list.

"No, I like it [at McLaren]," he stated via F1i.com. "I'm enjoying it. Ask me in five or 10 years, but right now there is nothing I want more than to get McLaren back to winning.

"I'm now starting to taste a few incremental steps forward, which is only making me more hungry to keep pushing."

As for who should be the next F1 CEO then, Brown believes the person can come from a broad scope providing they meet certain criteria.

"I think coming from a team is fine, as long as you don't have any baggage that comes with you," he said.

"It doesn't have to be someone from a team, I think that [it could be] someone who knows the sport inside out.

"It can be someone from motor racing," he added.

Other names reported are Lamborghini boss and ex-Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali and even Formula E chief Alejandro Agag.

However, with that successor potentially stepping in just as F1 undergoes a transformation in 2021, Brown does think it will be more than a one-man job.

"What does the whole management team look like? I don't think anyone has the skillset to do everything that needs to be done in F1," he claimed. "It's more about the team they build around them."
