Pierre Gasly isn't thinking about his case for a Red Bull return in 2020 despite a strong eighth place at the Singapore Grand Prix.
The Frenchman scored his second points finish since returning to Toro Rosso at Spa after it was confirmed by team advisor Helmut Marko that he and Alex Albon are the only considerations to line up alongside Max Verstappen next year.
With the Thai driver performing solidly in sixth though, Gasly is only thinking of his own progress as he tries to impress Red Bull bosses.
“We’ll see how it goes," he said. "At the moment, I’m just happy with the step, also I managed to get the car where I want it to be and every weekend we seem to make a step forward.
“I think we still need to work even harder because there’s even more to come and we’ll see the outcome at the end of the year.”

One difference Gasly has noticed since rejoining the junior team is being able to setup the car as he likes it, making him more comfortable behind the wheel.
“With the work we’re doing with the engineers and the whole team, for sure there are things to improve,” he said. “Hopefully we can keep going in the next races.
“[At Red Bull] I think I didn’t really manage to drive the way I liked before, and now I just feel like more I can do which is something more natural for me which is good.”
