Former Formula 1 team boss Flavio Briatore believes Ferrari's recent renewed success has helped to "revitalise" the sport.

In Singapore, the Italian team surprised everyone by overcoming their weakness on high downforce circuits throughout this season to claim a third consecutive win since the summer break.

This has also rekindled belief that the Scuderia can once again become consistent challengers to Mercedes, ending the dominance they re-established at the start of this season.

“The Ferrari victory revitalises the world championship and all of Formula 1,” Briatore was quoted by PlanetF1.

“Although I don’t think there’s a chance of winning the world championship, this Ferrari 1-2 does a lot of good.”

Briatore also highlighted the benefits of recent results to Ferrari, both for the establishment of Charles Leclerc at the front on F1 and helping Sebastian Vettel refind his best form.

“As for Leclerc, on the other hand, we can safely say that it has proved to be a real great talent,” the ex-Renault boss stated.

“He could win, but I think there is nothing to say about teamwork. Vettel needed a victory.”
