Wehrlein wins the Hong Kong eRace

Pascal Wehrlein claimed his second race victory at Hong Kong in the Race At Home Challenge in a race that a huge Turn 1 crash on lap one that changed the entire course of the race.

Wehrlein has now taken the lead of the championship after Maximilian Gunther who was leading the championship before the start of the race qualified in fourth but was caught up in the first corner collision the involved the majority of the field and dropped the German driver down to 11th.

Gunther also received a drive-through penalty for jumping the start and then crashed at the Turn 3-4 chicane which caused the BMW driver to fall to 19th and he was then eliminated from the race.

Edorado Mortara qualified on pole for the race, securing his first pole position in the series, but the Swiss driver avoided the drama behind him at Turn 1 but made a mistake at Turn 3 where he crashed into the wall and fell down to fifth place where he finished.

Wehrlein inherited the lead after Mortara crashed and drove away to secure the victory. James Calado profited from the Turn1 chaos as he moved up to second place, but lost out to Wehrelin and Vandoorne and finished the race in third place just behind Vandoorne.

Nyck De Vries finished the race in fourth in the second Mercedes ahead of Mortara. The actual championship leader Antonio Felix Da Costa scored his first points of the Race At Home championship in sixth.

Robin Frijns finished the race in seventh ahead of Oliver Turvey Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland.
