Charles Leclerc says the thrill of battling Max Verstappen made the British Grand Prix his “most enjoyable” race in Formula 1.
The Monegasque found himself on the defensive versus the Red Bull driver for much of the race after his decision to start on the soft tyre didn’t yield any benefits.
Even during the two pit-stops both drivers were battling, and Leclerc explained how the experience of losing victory to Verstappen in Austria impacted how he approached their latest head-to-head.
“I think the last race was an eye-opener for me, really showing how far we can go and I think it is great for F1 to fight on the limit that way,” he commented.
“I’m very happy that this race has gone like this.”

Eventually, it was his teammate Sebastian Vettel taking out Verstappen which promoted Leclerc back into third place to score his fourth straight podium after passing Pierre Gasly at Village.
“It is probably the race I have enjoyed the most in my F1 career,” he said. “Great to finish third, but today was a difficult day.
“During the first two stints, we weren’t where we wanted to be, on the hard we were very strong but unfortunately with the Safety Car we lost a few positions which wasn’t great for us.
“But yeah very happy to finish third and for the battles out on track.”
