Liam Lawson unfazed by potential partnership with Max Verstappen at Red Bull

Liam Lawson has expressed confidence at the prospect of joining Max Verstappen as a teammate at Red Bull, should he be promoted in 2025. Reflecting on his two years as a reserve,

Lawson stated, “I’ve been able to observe everything up close, watching how Max drives, how he communicates about balance, and exactly what he wants.”

“Max is very direct and doesn’t waste words. That’s essential in Formula 1, and I believe I’ve learned more from him than anyone else.”

Recently, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko indicated that a decision on the team’s driver lineup will come after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with Sergio Perez facing mounting pressure from recent performance issues.

Lawson has emerged as a strong candidate to replace him, with the New Zealander expressing full confidence despite his limited F1 experience.

“No, I’m not afraid,” Lawson said. “If anything, there’s no one I’d rather have as a teammate than Max, the best in the sport. Competing alongside him, studying his data each weekend, and understanding how he approaches F1 would be the ultimate challenge.”

“I’m not overthinking it right now,” he added. “But if the chance arises, I’ll give it everything I’ve got.”

Lawson also highlighted that his time as a reserve has provided invaluable insights, noting that he’s learned more from Verstappen than any other driver so far.
