In a wet Qualifying session in Rome, it was DS Techeetah’s Andre Lotterer who clinched the Pole Position for Rome E-Prix despite losing time in the damp conditions.
Sitting behind Lotterer on the starting grid will be Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Mitch Evans and Geox Dragon’s Jose Maria Lopez in third.
Starting the race in fourth is HWA racelab’s Stoffel Vandoorne, who sits ahead of Dragon driver Max Gunther and Nissan e.dams’ Sebastien Buemi in sixth.
Just missing out on Super Pole was Venturi’s Edoardo Mortara, who starts the race in seventh ahead of Envision Virgin Racing’s Robin Frijns and Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Alex Lynn.
Rounding off the top ten will be Mahindra Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein followed by Venturi’s Felipe Massa and Nissan e.dams’ Oliver Rowland in 12th.
Making up the middle of the grid is Championship leader Antonio Felix da Costa (BMW i Andretti Motorsport), who sits ahead of championship hopeful Sam Bird (Envision Virgin Racing) and Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi in 15th.
For our reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Techeetah), the Frenchman will start the race in 17th, behind HWA Racelab’s Gary Paffett but ahead of Audi’s Daniel Abt in 18th and NIO’s Oliver Turvey in 19th, Mahindra’s Jerome d’Ambrosio in 20th and NIO’s Tom Dillmann in 21st.
Suffering a technical issue, BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Alexander Sims stopped on track during the Qualifying session, bringing out the red flag, while his car was recovered. The British driver will start the race at the back of the pack.
