Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has moved to quickly squash rumours of Daniil Kvyat being lined up to replace Pierre Gasly.
After a bad race in Canada, the 23-year-old followed it up with another disappointing display at his home race in France, only earning 10th place after a penalty for Daniel Ricciardo.
And when the Austrian was seen with Kvyat’s manager Nicolas Todt over the weekend, it didn’t take long for some to jump to assumptions.
“That rumour is not correct. Last week, Nico Hülkenberg was our replacement and now it is Daniil Kvyat,” Marko told Germany’s Motorsport-Magazin.
“I talk to a lot of people. I also talked to his father, Jean.”

After Sunday’s race, Red Bull boss Christian Horner appeared to show frustration at Gasly’s performance, now though, he has tweaked his stance.
“Ending on P11 is frustrating since you don’t take any points home with you,” he said before Gasly was promoted to P10 by Ricciardo’s penalty.
“We will take a good look at his RB15 again to see if there are any invisible defects in Pierre’s car.”
Marko also offered the Frenchman his support concluding: “We are planning to finish with Gasly this season.
“He must be worried about the speed he showed in France, but that is why we are taking the car apart for Austria to see if there is anything wrong with it.”
