Max Verstappen has been praised for his attitude while completing his first public service order with the FIA at the recent Marrakesh ePrix.
Given the order after pushing Esteban Ocon post-race last year in Brazil, the Dutchman sat alongside the stewards at the Formula E race, as the governing body offered Max the chance to observe how the decisions, which he often criticises, are made.
The official driver steward that day was former Red Bull and HRT racer Vitantonio Liuzzi and he was very impressed by how Verstappen conducted himself.
“Verstappen should be commended,” he told Italy’s Autosprint. “His approach was well-balanced and he immediately showed a lot of interest in the stewards’ work.
“We involved him, asking him from time to time to give his view on a few incidents in the race, and he was very mature.”
Liuzzi also revealed the level of dedication Verstappen showed as he made the most of the experience.
“He was very focused and involved one hundred per cent,” he noted. “He was with the stewards from seven in the morning until the end of the race, never taking a break and sometimes spending several hours with nothing to do.
“But he was never distracted and always remained focused.”
Verstappen himself declared the day as “constructive” and it will be interesting to see how his attitude changes should the stewards decide against him in the future.
