McLaren has revealed the 14 team members quarantined for coronavirus in Australia are set to fly home after getting the all-clear.
Only one member tested positive for the Covid-19 illness in Melbourne, leading to the cancellation of the race, while the rest went into two weeks isolation having come into contact with their colleague in the days prior.
Formula 1 team boss Andreas Seidl also remained Down Under to offer moral support to those employees and the German offered an update via McLaren.com on Tuesday.
“They’re doing well,” he said. “I stayed out with them for a couple of extra days, and some senior members of the team are still there with them.
“All the team members who had been tested as a precaution tested negative, which is fantastic news.”

Several days after testing positive, the team member was also no longer showing symptoms, and Seidl confirmed: “The person that had tested positive is now feeling well.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the UK this week,” he added.
So far, the first eight races scheduled to take place have either been cancelled or postponed and McLaren CEO Zak Brown backed the response being taken by F1 bosses.
“We support the decision to postpone the opening races of the season, and unfortunately also the need to wait until 2021 to take to the streets of Monte Carlo,” he noted.
“This unprecedented situation is constantly changing, but we will adapt to overcome the challenges it presents. Ultimately, nothing is more important than the health of the team, our fans and the wider F1 community.
“Our priority remains, and always will be, the health and wellbeing of everyone involved.”
