Mercedes reveal the new W11 ahead of Friday shakedown

Mercedes have released the first images of their new W11 car ahead of a shakedown at Silverstone on Friday.

The six-time defending champions had already offered a look at the revised livery for 2020 at the launch of a new partnership with INEOS earlier this week.

And now the car which they hope will continue their historic period of success has been revealed.

Once again, Lewis Hamilton is expected to lead the German manufacturer’s charge and the Briton heads into this season aiming to create his own piece of history by matching Michael Schumacher as a seven-time world champion.

Alongside the Briton, Valtteri Bottas remains for a fourth year at the Brackley-based team. After a stronger year in 2019, the Finn is aiming to continue closing the gap to Hamilton, but after finishing 87 points behind last season, it will need a huge turnaround to do so.

Both drivers can look forward to a first date with the new W11 on this Valentines Day when they complete a 100km filming day on Friday.

This ahead of the first pre-season test in Barcelona, starting on February 19.
