Mick Schumacher isn’t giving up on his Formula 1 ambitions despite the ongoing delay to the Formula 2 season.
This year was set to be a crucial one for the son of seven-time F1 champion Michael. After a so-so first year in F2, the pressure was on the 21-year-old to prove himself worthy of a promotion, likely to Alfa Romeo, for next year.
Of course, without any racing, the Ferrari Academy hasn’t been able to analyse Schumacher, but Mick is still committed to the F1 cause.
“Hopefully soon, but it’s a long and difficult process to get there. We have to wait and see how this season goes,” F1-Insider.com quoted him from an Instagram Q&A with Under Armour.
“Hopefully well, then maybe we could be in Formula 1 soon.”

Schumacher and the other F2 drivers last drove in Bahrain back in March, as they tested only a few weeks before their first event was planned.
Obviously, it didn’t happen as drivers later returned home and Mick supports the decision not to go ahead.
“Of course it was a shock at first, but it was the right decision,” Schumacher said of the Bahrain postponement.
“This has taken on dimensions that we all could not have foreseen. So it was definitely the right decision.
“We all have to try to keep ourselves busy at home now.”
F1 is hoping to include F2 and F3 as part of their plans to start the 2020 season in Austria in July.
