Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) snatched the top spot from Maverick Viñales after the flag had come out for FP2.

The track was damp as the session began, but began to try out in the second half of the session, leaving the riders to chase quick lap times with the top spot constantly changing. Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) held the top spot for a fair while, proving just how well the Ducatis run around the Red Bull Ring.

Scott Redding had an impressive ride this session, finishing in ninth and proving why he still deserves a seat in this paddock. Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) had a similarly impressive ride and shot up into the top ten. He was knocked back out of the top ten towards the end, but an impressive ride on the development bike nonetheless.
