The motorsport experts from Affalterbach are set to co-operate with the well-established Arden International Motorsport team in the forthcoming 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship season, who will be once again competing as BWT Arden.

After the recent announcement that they will be running a Formula 3 team, HWA RACELAB is now set to be involved in another top-level race Championship.

As with Formula 3, Formula 2 races form part of the support programme at Formula 1 events and stand as important levels within the “FIA Formula pyramid” that supports the development of talented young drivers seeking to participate and succeed at the very highest level of the sport. Arden International Motorsport has competed in F2, previously called GP2, since the championship began in 2005.

Twelve drivers whom have raced for Arden have subsequently joined the F1 grid, including current F1 drivers Pierre Gasly (Red Bull), Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso), Carlos Sainz (McLaren) and Sergio Perez (Racing Point).

The partnership between Arden International and HWA RACELAB, therefore, brings together one of the most successful talent factories in International single-seater racing with the most successful team in the history of the DTM.

Arden International Motorsport team principal, Garry Horner: “We are delighted to announce our new engineering and technical partnership with HWA RACELAB. HWA bring a wealth of engineering expertise and knowledge to the programme and we look forward to working with them in the FIA F2 Championship.”

HWA RACELAB team principal Ulrich Fritz: “We are very pleased about this co-operation with Arden International, which is an important step for us as a team. It does not just represent a sporting challenge, but also allows us to utilise synergies and demonstrate our expertise in all areas of motorsport. The FIA Formula 2 Championship is an extremely exciting and competitive platform.”

“As newcomers to this championship, our primary aim is to learn as much as possible, apply our engineering know-how and contribute to the success of Arden. An involvement in Formula 2 is an ideal addition to our wide spectrum of motorsport commitments, which now ranges from Formula 3 to Formula E, and from GT racing to the DTM.”
