Lando Norris admits the prospect of a British Grand Prix without fans will be “weird”.
On Monday, Formula 1 offered the first glimpse into how the 2020 season could look by announcing plans for a regional calendar starting with the Austrian GP in July.
However, it was also confirmed that any event at Silverstone, which is expected to happen after a double-header in Spielberg, would take place behind closed doors due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
That is a bitter blow for the race which has attracted the biggest crowds of any GP in the past two years, and Norris expects a very different feel to the event should it take place.
“Silverstone is one of my favourite tracks and not just because it’s my home race,” he told Mirror Sport.
“If it is behind closed doors it will be weird there not being anyone in the grandstands or any noise.”

With still just over two months until any planned action though, it still gives plenty of time for Norris and the other F1 drivers that have embraced Esports to entertain us during the lockdown period.
And the 20-year-old acknowledges the role he can play.
“I don’t have power but I have more possibilities than a lot of others to put myself in a good position,” he said.
“I’ve got a better opportunity than a lot of other people, I’m lucky because of that and in the situation I am. It’s trying to make the most of that and do what I can.”
