Prema Racing driver Paul Aron has picked up double pole in Formula Regional European Championship, topping qualifying 2 at Zandvoort ahead of his teammate Dino Beganovic.
The championship leader looked like the man to beat in the Group A session, but eventually, his Estonian teammate took over the top spot, allowing his qualifying streak (third pole of the year) to continue.
Beganovic took second, ahead of rookie Sebastian Montoya, who struggled for pole in Group B with Aron, at the wheel of another Prema car. The second row is completed by Kas Haverkort (Van Amersfoort Racing), who on his home track took second place in Race 1 yesterday.
Gabriele Minì (ART Grand Prix), who holds the second position in the overall standings just 42 points behind Beganovic, secured fifth, lining up alongside another Italian driver Leonardo Fornaroli (Trident Motorsport).
Tim Tramnitz (Trident Motorsport) and Hadrien David (R-ace GP) will make up the fourth row, while Michael Belov (MP Motorsport) and Maceo Capietto (Monolite Racing) rounded out the top ten.
Paul Aron: “It was a really good qualifying. We made a good job yesterday and I’m happy we’ve managed to put all together today. As always the team did an outstanding job, taking the first three positions on the grid for Race 2.”
“The car is on fire and at the end of the session I manage to get a good lap that gave us the pole position.”
