The talented Brazilian, son of 2-time Formula 1 World Champion Nelson Piquet, will be back to the Italian squad after the last season in the GP3 Series.

The relationship between 20-year-old Brazilian Pedro Piquet and Team Trident will continue for 2019. Running under the team’s banner, the young South American racer has been one of the stars of last season’s GP3 Series with two wins and four podium finishes to his name and cruised to sixth place overall in the driver championship.

Piquet’s wins came on really prestigious and challenging tracks like Silverstone and Monza, so his potential with Team Trident emerged clearly in what has been his best season to date.

The same potential has now turned him into one of the best candidates for the FIA Formula 3 Championship title: the category is being more and more regarded as a crucial step for drivers aiming for Formula 1.

“I am really motivated for the season ahead, which will see me race with Team Trident in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.” Said Piquet

“I experienced a great 2018 season with them, scoring two wins and several podium finishes. For 2019 I am sure that we have everything we need to do even better and challenge for the title.”

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager added: “Pedro’s talent and potential are out of question. I am delighted to see him continue in his quest for Formula 1 wearing the Team Trident colours.”

“The team will put up its best effort to support him and enable him to achieve his career goals. He will be part of an extremely competitive line-up that has the potential to write a new chapter of our successful history in this championship.”
