    Porsche hold upper hand in FP1 in Texas

    The no2 Porsche 919 hybrid got the 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas weekend to a flying start for the German manufacturer with Earl Bamber setting a 1m48.124 lap, the Kiwi’s time 0.145s ahead of the no1 Porsche 919 of Nick Tandy. 

    The leading Toyota was just four tenths behind the leading car with Sebastien Buemi setting a 1m48.584 lap in the no8 Toyota TS050.

    Ford led the LMGTE Pro class with the American manufacturer taking the top two spots on the time sheets at the end of the 90 minute session.  Stefan Mucke posted a 2m04.939 lap, 0.2 seconds ahead of the no67 Ford GT of championship leader Andy Priaulx. 

    The two Ferrari F488s were third and fourth fastest with the no51 Ferrari of Alessandro Pier Guidi posting a 2m05.213, just 0.6 seconds behind leading Ford.

    The LMP 2 category was headed by the no26 G Drive Racing Oreca-Gibson with Alex Lynn setting a 1m55.399 lap, 0.309s ahead of the no28 TDS Racing Oreca of Matthieu Vaxiviere and 0.6 ahead of the no36 Signatech Alpine of American Gustavo Menezes.

    Aston Martin were in charge at the end of the first session in the LMGTE Am class with Pedro Lamy setting a 2m06.989 lap, 0.3 seconds ahead of double race winner Matteo Cairoli in the no77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 911.
