Racing Point is hoping the second part of their much-anticipated upgrade can provide a further performance boost at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Last weekend, the Silverstone-based outfit did appear more competitive at Hockenheim, with Sergio Perez making Q3 and even Lance Stroll ending his lengthy run of Q1 exits.
This as a result of what some are calling essentially a ‘B-spec’ car introduced over two weekends, with almost every part getting some kind of update.
“Hungary will be another important test for our updated car,” team boss Otmar Szafnaeur commented.
“We have some more mechanical items to evaluate this weekend.
“Our performance in Germany shows we are moving in the right direction, and I believe there are plenty more gains to be found with this new aero philosophy.”

The results last Sunday were weather-dictated as Perez spun helplessly into the wall early on, while Stroll capitalised on an early switch back to slicks to just miss out on the podium in fourth.
But having languished down the order for much of the season, Szafnauer wants Racing Point to once again become a key midfield player.
“We need to get back into the habit of regular points scoring,” he added.
“Historically we don’t have the best track record at the Hungaroring, but we will give it everything to try and come away with some points.”
This weekend is also significant as it was exactly a year ago that Force India went into administration, leading to the eventual takeover by Lawrence Stroll.
