Both Red Bull drivers have backed the team as the furore over the budget cap continues at the US Grand Prix.
After the last race in Japan, the FIA announced Red Bull had committed a “minor overspend” of less than five percent above the $145m cap that was in place during 2021.
This has enraged their rivals with Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren coming out in demanding significant penalties be given to the Milton Keynes-based team.
On Thursday, it emerged that an “accepted breach agreement” offer had been made to Red Bull by the FIA, though the team could reject and make their case to the Cost Cap Administration.

But speaking in Austin, world champion Max Verstappen staunchly stood by his team.
“Nothing has been confirmed yet, but as a team, we know what we have to deal with,” he told Sky Sports.
“I think we were very clear on what we think was correct, so that’s why it’s still ongoing.
“At the end of the day, it’s also not my job, it’s between the team and the FIA.”
The Dutchman then hit back at teams calling for heavy sanctions that could potentially threaten his 2021 F1 title.
“I think it’s mainly because we have been doing well. They tried to slow us down in any way possible,” he claimed.
“But at the end of the day, that’s how F1 works as well. You know everyone is, at the end of the day, a bit hypocritical and I’m fine with that. We just have to focus on our job.”
Teammate Sergio Perez echoed Verstappen, adding: “We believe we are in line and we believe that everything will come up in the right situation.
“I will leave it down to my team to solve that with the FIA. At the end of the day, there are always teams that want to take performance out of you, especially if you are winning, so that’s part of the sport.”
