Red Bull boss Christian Horner has praised Max Verstappen for his “mature” approach in the opening rounds of 2019.
Now officially the lead driver at the Milton Keynes outfit, the Dutchman has unleashed a new side of himself this season as he produces consistently strong performances.
Not only that, but moments which would have ended in tears last year have not, with the case in point being his lunge on Sebastian Vettel during the Chinese Grand Prix.
“I think he has been very mature about it,” Horner said. “He has driven three strong Grands Prix so far this year and was obviously unlucky not to be on the podium in Bahrain.
“We saw he had a go at Sebastian after the pit stop, and he drove a very mature race to bring it home fourth.”

Two fourths and a third also mean Verstappen sits third in the Drivers’ Championship which is exactly what Red Bull need with their car currently struggling a little for raw pace.
“It is about points accumulation at this stage,” Horner continued.
“It still not that big a gap to the guys ahead, he is still ahead of both Ferrari drivers in the championship at the moment, and still a long, long way to go.
“So it is important you don’t give away too much ground at this stage of the year.”
