Renault launch the R.S.19 ahead of new F1 season

Renault has become the latest team to unveil their 2019 car, launching the R.S.19 on Tuesday.

2019 marks a crucial year for the French manufacturer after finishing as the leading midfield team in fourth in last year’s Constructors’ Championship.

However, their progress wasn’t as rapid as many expected last year, particularly on the engine side, and pressure is growing as they look to close the gap on the top three.

Over the winter positive vibes have been coming from Enstone of significant gains both with engine and chassis and it’s much needed as the squad prepares to welcome Daniel Ricciardo from Red Bull.

Indeed, making himself at home, the Australian cheekily introduced himself with his first comments at the launch event: “Bonjour, je m’appelle Daniel,” he said. “I just wanted to learn French, that’s why I’m doing this.”

The new car follows the same principle seen with every unveiling so far with a lot of similarities to last year’s design but with the new simpler wings being introduced for 2019.

We can expect plenty more details to appear when the teams arrive in Barcelona for pre-season testing next Monday.
