The war of words between Max Verstappen and Renault continues with technical director Bob Bell suggesting the Dutchman blame his Red Bull car for the lack of results.
Verstappen has been a very vocal critic of the French manufacturer and their power unit for the poor reliability and lack of power compared to their rivals at Mercedes and Ferrari while Renault boss Cyril Abiteboul has called the 21-year-old “demanding”.
Though there was an apparent attempt to reduce the animosity between the two sides last week, Bell has only likely triggered a further response later this week with his latest dig at Verstappen.
“With Max, everything has to be done quickly because he is young and he is in a hurry,” he told Ziggo Sport.
“He wants to win because he knows he has the potential to win. He is disappointed that his car is abandoning him and is blaming our engine.”

The more recent contention has been over Red Bull’s decision to revert back to a B-spec engine for races in Mexico and Brazil after reliability problems with the C-spec in Singapore and Suzuka, the latter impacting Daniel Ricciardo.
“We make no difference between engines that we use for our own team and the engines that go to our customers,” Bell insisted
“It could theoretically be that the way Red Bull puts the engine in the car has consequences for the performance, but perhaps they are just unlucky.”
