Daniel Ricciardo’s eighth on the grid for the Singapore Grand Prix is under threat as stewards investigate a possible breach of MGU-K power output.
The electrical aspect of the power unit is limited to 120kw (161hp), however, FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer has reported that a reading above that figure was taken during Q1 in qualifying.
If confirmed by the stewards, then exclusion from final results is the expected punishment meaning Ricciardo would have to start from the back of the grid or pit-lane.

That would be a massive blow to Renault, as they try to hunt down McLaren for fourth in the Constructors’ standings, having reduced the gap to 18 points after Monza.
In qualifying, it was the Woking-based squad who seized the advantage with Carlos Sainz in seventh, but Ricciardo and teammate Nico Hulkenberg had finished directly behind the Spaniard in eighth and ninth as Lando Norris completed the top 10.
“Our intention was to get into Q3, so to achieve that with both cars is good,” the Aussie had said earlier in the evening.
“I’m not disappointed, it was a good effort and we’ve recovered well throughout the weekend. I’m content with eighth and there’s plenty to play for there.
“We have to focus on the race now. We’ll see what happens and get along with our business. The race is the toughest of the year, but I enjoy the challenge.”
