Formula 1 could be in Sochi for the penultimate time this weekend as reports indicate the Russian Grand Prix may move from 2021.
The Autodrom was completed following the 2014 Winter Olympics and winds its way between many of the venues making for quite the spectacular setting.
However, in the five races that have previously been held, the racing has been average at best with the location also difficult for many Russians to get to.
As a result, GPBlog.com quotes Sportsmail as revealing President Vladimir Putin is eager to fund a new circuit just 15 miles from his home city of St. Petersburg with a view on moving the F1 race in two years time.

The idea has also been welcomed by Russian driver Daniil Kvyat, who noted the potential to attract fans from a nearby motorsport haven.
“I think as long as there is a race in Russia I’m up for it,” he was quoted by RaceFans as saying in Thursday’s press conference.
“Maybe it’s not a bad idea to have it closer to that region also where there is even more accessible to the people from Moscow, from St Petersburg.
“Maybe it will bring more spectators which is cool, maybe also from Europe, from Finland. It’s a very popular sport there, it will be cool.
“It’s not a bad idea,” Kvyat added. “Here is very nice but knows it could be even better. Why not?”
