Carlos Sainz caused rumours of a possible Ferrari move but he isn’t ready to be the “sauce on the pasta” at Maranello, Dutch pundit Olav Mol claims.
As the uncertainty over Sebastian Vettel’s future at the Scuderia continues, the Spaniard is one of three names often mentioned as possible replacements, alongside Daniel Ricciardo and Antonio Giovinazzi.
This after Sainz’s stock rose dramatically in 2019 as he finished sixth in the Drivers’ standings in his first year at McLaren, including a first podium finish in Brazil.
Asked about the Ferrari rumours though, Carlos has said he’s happy at Woking and isn’t too interested in the speculation, but Mol believes otherwise.
“I know the Sainz’s a little bit and they brought this out themselves,” he was quoted as telling the F1 aan Tafel of Grand Prix Radio podcast.

Mol though continued by questioning whether the 25-year-old is good enough to succeed at Ferrari.
“If it’s really an option for Sainz, I think it’s way too early,” he claimed.
“He already has to work very hard to reach this level and as a Ferrari driver there is just a little bit more pressure. [Charles] Leclerc had some trouble with that at first.
“I don’t know if Sainz is strong enough for Ferrari. He’s very strong on Sunday, but he’s just not consistent enough for that.
“I don’t have the idea that he will become the sauce on the pasta at Ferrari.”
