Haas chief Guenther Steiner was “frustrated” with Mick Schumacher following a silly crash at the Japanese Grand Prix on Friday.
In increasingly wet conditions at Suzuka, the German would crash at the Dunlop curve on an in-lap after the chequered flag, causing significant damage to his car.
Explaining what happened, Schumacher later commented: “It was quite wet and unfortunately, we had an aquaplaning moment which ended up in us losing the rear.”

The accident also meant he missed the entirety of FP2 in similarly wet conditions although Mick wasn’t too concerned.
“We’ve lost time and we’ve got to do a big job tomorrow, but the track is great,” he said.
“The car felt great today so hopefully we’re in a good position. Tomorrow should be dry so we’ll see what we can do from there.”
Still, at a time when Schumacher is trying to save his place in Formula 1 for 2023, it was another blemish next to his name after other heavy crashes earlier in the year.
“It’s disappointing because we just went out to do a race start so we get data for Sunday,” Haas chief Steiner told F1TV.

“The whole front end is broken and we have to change the chassis because we are not sure if there is a crack in it or not and you cannot take any risk with the chassis.
“So we have to change the chassis and the whole front end and the front wing and the nose.
“It’s the third time now that we have potential chassis damage [after a Schumacher crash],” he acknowledged. “I say potential because we need to X-ray it and see if it is cracked or not. But it is quite frustrating.”
