Sebastian Vettel admits his second day in the Ferrari this week has largely reaffirmed his first impression of the SF90.
While it wasn’t a dominant table-topping day on Wednesday, unlike the first two, the German still posted the fourth best time on the C3 Pirelli tyres, with those ahead using softer and therefore faster rubber.
“It was good to be back in the car today and put some more mileage under my belt,” Vettel commented after adding 138 laps to his weekly total.
“Again, we had a busy day and managed to complete our programme, which included a few new items, compared to Monday.
“We tried a few things around also focusing on set-up and I can only confirm the positive impression I had on day one,” he added.
“Having now put 303 laps in the bag I feel comfortable to say we are satisfied with how the car is progressing.”

Ferrari’s pace has already led Mercedes to suggest they are playing catch up at this early stage and other drivers have taken note of the Prancing Horse too…
“Ferrari has come out strong,” Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo said. “They have come out strong the last few seasons and that has been consistent with their performance over the years, so they are going to be there. That is no surprise.
“Performance and reliability at the moment, they seem to be creating a statement. That is really the only team that has stood out for now.
“The rest it is so hard to say, even DRS, who is using it and who is not. So, it is tricky to compare at the moment.”
Charles Leclerc will be back behind the wheel of the Ferrari for the final day of action in Barcelona this week on Thursday.
