Sergio Perez and his father, Antonio Perez Garibay, have spoken out against the ongoing speculation surrounding the Mexican driver’s future with Red Bull, calling for accountability from media outlets spreading false claims.
Despite signing a contract extension for 2025, Perez has faced criticism during a challenging 2024 season alongside teammate Max Verstappen. Rumors even suggested he would announce his retirement at the Mexican GP, which never materialized.
“The media that said he would say goodbye in Mexico should at least apologise,” Antonio Perez told ESPN Racing’s Spanish-language podcast.
Sergio Perez, meanwhile, has taken a light-hearted approach to the rumors, stating:
“I laugh at everything they come up with. Not all journalists, of course, but in European media, there’s an excess of unprofessionalism. Everyone can have a bad race or make a bad decision.”
Interestingly, reports claim Red Bull boss Christian Horner has already approved 2025 team sponsorships and merchandise tied to Perez, signaling potential confidence in his continued tenure.
Antonio Perez expressed optimism about his son’s future at Red Bull, saying:
“Checo will be there for the next two years. He plans to retire with Red Bull, the most professional and champion team at the moment. They are improving both cars and still fighting for championships.”
With Red Bull’s dominance this season, Perez and his father remain confident in the team’s direction as the year concludes.
