The Aston Martin Formula 1 team announced a significant leadership transition with Dan Fallows stepping down as Technical Director, effective immediately.

Fallows, who joined Aston Martin in April 2022 after a long tenure at Red Bull as Chief Engineer for Aerodynamics, played a critical role in the team’s push to become a top-tier competitor. His work led to a promising 2023 season where Aston Martin clinched eight podiums with Fernando Alonso behind the wheel.

However, a drop in performance and the team’s stagnation in fifth place this year prompted Aston Martin to shake up its technical leadership.

Although Fallows will exit his F1 role, he remains with Aston Martin in an unspecified position within the broader Aston Martin Group. Reflecting on his time with the F1 team, Fallows said, “It has been a joy and a privilege to guide the technical team on their journey towards being race and championship winners. It is time for me to pass on the baton, but I look forward to watching the team’s future success.”

This move comes during a transformative period for Aston Martin, which recently expanded into a cutting-edge, 400,000-square-foot facility at Silverstone, featuring a new wind tunnel and simulator, hailed as a “massive step forward” by Fallows earlier this year.

Supporting this ambitious push, Aston Martin has made high-profile appointments, including former Red Bull designer Adrian Newey and ex-Ferrari engineer Enrico Cardile, the latter slated to become Chief Technical Officer in 2025. For now, Fallows’ duties will be managed by Eric Blandin, Deputy Technical Director, and Bob Bell, Executive Director of Technical.

Aston Martin CEO Andy Cowell thanked Fallows for his contributions, particularly for spearheading the development of the AMR23 that brought notable successes last season.

Looking ahead, the team aims to continue its upward trajectory, aligning with owner Lawrence Stroll’s vision of transforming Aston Martin into a front-running force in Formula 1.
