Alexander Sims has taken back to back pole positions in AD Diriyah and has taken another three championship points for pole position.

The Brit’s pole is also the first time a driver has taken three poles in a row, as the BMW driver also took pole in the final round of the season in New York in season five.

Sims set a lap time of 1:11.476 which was two tenths faster than Sebastien Buemi who will start alongside Sims in second. Lucas Di Grassi will start third for Audi setting a lap time of a 1:11.784.

Mitch Evans will start the race from fourth for Jaguar Racing and Jerome D’Ambrosio will start fifth for Mahindra.

Antonio Felix Da Costa will start sixth for DS Techeeah, but the Portuguese driver was on course for pole position but had a massive slide at Turn 16 which lost him a second and pushed him back to sixth.

Yesterday’s race winner Sam Bird will start from seventh. The Brit was the fastest driver in group one and only missed out on Super Pole by a tenth. Edorado Mortara will start eighth in Venturi.

Maxi Gunther qualified in ninth for BMW, while Andre Lotterer was another driver who took part in the first group of the session and the Porsche driver qualified tenth.

Jean-Eric Vergne will once again start in 11th place. The Ds Techeetah driver had no running in the morning practice session after he damaged his rear suspension.

Stoffel Vanddorne who finished third in yesterday’s race will start in 12th and Robin Frijns will start behind him in 13th.

Pascal Wehrelin and Daniel Abt will be unhappy with their qualifying laps as they will start 14th and 15th, while their teammates both made Super Pole.

the rear of the field will see Felipe Massa in 16th, Oliver Rowland in 17th, Oliver Turvey in the NIO in 18th. Neel Jani in the second Porsche will start 19th alongside Brendon Hartley.

Ma Qing Hua will start in 21st alongside James Calado on 22nd. Nico Muller will start 23rd and Nyck De Vries in the Mercedes will start 24th and last after making a mistake in the second sector.
