Swiss driver Ralph Boschung has signed for MP Motorsport to compete in the 2018 Formula 2 season. It will be Boschung’s second season in the category, after a promising debut campaign in 2017.

Boschung switches to MP Motorsport having completed a successful test day in the post-season test in Abu Dhabi in November 2017.

“I’m really happy to be joining MP Motorsport for my second season in Formula 2”, said Boschung. “We cooperated very well during our day together at Yas Marina, and this gave me the confidence that we can do well in 2018. With the new car, it’s a level playing field for everyone, and MP has the staff to get the most out of a new chassis. It will be an amazing season.”

“It’s great that Ralph will be part of our Formula 2 team for 2018”, said Sander Dorsman, MP Motorsport’s team manager. “He has shown good speed in his first season in F2, and I’m certain that we can convert his speed into more solid results. Our post-season test with Ralph went very well. We are convinced that we can build on that form to produce a consistent points-winning run in the season ahead.”

Last year, Boschung’s promising debut season in Formula 2 resulted in 11 points, with a seventh place at the Red-Bull-Ring as his best result. In 2015 and 2016, the Swiss drove two seasons in GP3 with a win at the very same Red-Bull-Ring as the highlight. Boschung’s first two seasons in motor racing resulted in a win and 14 podium finishes in the German-based ADAC Formula Masters series.

Fans of the Renault Sport Formula One Team were able to get a close-up look of the 2018 season challenger today as the Renault R.S.18 was unveiled.

Using specially-created tools, fans could see a stunning hologram projection of the car and spin it through 360 degrees to see its brand-new lines and new black and yellow livery.

The Renault R.S.18 will be delivered to drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Carlos Sainz, and both are keen to get to grips with the car at the first test in Barcelona, from 26 February to 1 March.

Nico and Carlos will be joined this year by Jack Aitken, who steps up to become Third and Reserve Driver. Twenty-two-year-old Jack, who is British-Korean, was one of the founding members of the Renault Sport Academy and will combine his F1 role with competition in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

“It feels amazing to take up the role as Third and Reserve Driver,” says Jack. “It hasn’t quite processed yet, but I’m going to step up my involvement with the team quite a lot. Over the first Barcelona test, it will start to feel real and sink in a little bit more."

"The role gives me an opportunity to be closer to Nico and Carlos and learn from them, as well as observing the race team, the engineers and how everything operates. Of course, if I’m required, I’d be happy to jump in the car, but I hope it’s all fine with Nico and Carlos! At the moment, it will be about continuing my development.”

Artem Markelov will support the team in his new role as Test and Development Driver. The Russian will combine an F2 campaign with development duties in the team’s driver-in-the-loop simulator at Enstone.

Artem commented: “I’m really happy to join Renault Sport Formula One Team as Test and Development Driver. Renault is a standout name in Formula 1 so to sign for them is a really significant step in my career."

"This year will consist of a lot of listening and learning and taking the opportunity when it comes. I’m grateful for the opportunity, and I’ve had a busy winter of preparing for what will be a demanding season of test driving and racing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Russian Time. I’m very much looking forward to the start of the season and getting to work."

Santino Ferrucci is more than a familiar face for the team after making his debut under the Trident banner in the final part of the 2017 season. The American racer impressed right from his first appearance at Hungaroring by scoring a remarkable fifth row result in qualifying and then bringing home his first points of the season.

Ferrucci is determined to quickly learn the secrets of the new Formula 2 car, powered by a 3.4-liter turbocharged engine with 640 horsepower, and then fight at the front end of the charts. Ferrucci's single-seater experience is particularly solid. Despite his young age, Santino was among the stars of the GP3 Series and also entered the European Formula 3 Championship two times.

The skills displayed by the 19-year-old are unanimously recognized. Team Trident will provide the Connecticut-born man with the competencies needed to pull off an outstanding season.

The Indian driver was among the most impressive prospects of the GP3 Series and was quickly able to secure his first win in the opening round at Barcelona."

"Joining Team Trident in the postseason, he immediately showed excellent confidence with the power and braking of Formula 2 cars, and his maturity persuaded Team Trident to focus on his potential and quality. Relying on his single-seater experience, which includes solid results in European Formula 3 competition, Arjun aims to climb his learning curve quickly and stay as close as possible to the frontrunners.

With two impressive drivers on its roster, Team Trident now looks forward to a successful 2018 season with confidence!

Santino and Arjun are two undoubtedly valuable prospects who have all that it takes to be among the future stars of motorsports for the years to come."

"It is certainly not by chance that an ambitious Formula 1 outfit, Team Haas, selected them to join their junior development program. Team Trident will provide its new drivers with the experience and energy needed for them to continue growing up and reach their ultimate professional goals."

Giacomo Ricci – Team Manager: "I'm extremely satisfied and motivated by our 2018 line-up which is a highly competitive and challenging one. We will be able to rely on two undoubtedly talented drivers in order to build a prestigious future together."

"Santino Ferrucci merged with our team in perfect fashion last season and really impressed our engineers for his speed, driving skills and commitment. We hope to see him bring home solid results over the course of the season."

ART Grand Prix is announced that it has completed its Formula 2 line up with a new partnership together with George Russell, who will race alongside his compatriot, Jack Aitken.

George had a great year in 2017, winning with the GP3 title with ART Grand Prix in his first year in the series as well as completing his first official test laps in Formula 1 last August when he topped the times with reigning world champions Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport at the Hungaroring.

Subsequently, George participated in his first two Formula 1 race weekends with the Sahara Force India team, climbing behind the wheel in first free practice at the Brazilian and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix.

George Russell got his first taste of Formula 2 on the Yas Marina circuit in November and December, where, hot on the heels of his GP3 season, he worked with ART Grand Prix, showing his speed and technical ease.

"I am very happy to be able to race in Formula 2 while continuing to drive for ART Grand Prix. We had a very successful year together last season and so it makes sense to continue working together and seek out new successes." Said Russell

"With the introduction of a new Formula 2 car, it will be challenging for all the teams to optimize the set-up from the start of the season, but I have every confidence in ART Grand Prix to get there and to be competitive as quickly as possible. I cannot wait to take part in the first race and fight against some of the best drivers and teams at the pinnacle of junior motorsport."

Sébastien Philippe:"ART Grand Prix had a very enjoyable and fruitful year with George in GP3, both sporting and personal, so it was only natural that we renewed our partnership for Formula 2, hand in hand with Mercedes-Benz, where George is one of their young drivers. ART Grand Prix’s experience together with George's talent should allow us to fight and defend our title in the entry series to Formula 1."
