The inaugural 24H COTA USA (10-12 November, 2017) can rightfully be referred to as a ‘finale grande’ to conclude what has been an action-packed season in the CREVENTIC SERIES.

Open for GTs, touring cars and 24H Specials, the race at the Circuit Of The Americas in Austin, Texas, is the final round of CREVENTIC’s new-for-2017 ‘Championship of the Continents’.

It marks the first event for the Dutch agency to be held in the United States. A total of 25 different nationalities are expected on the grid for the 24-hour race, including seven US-based teams and one outfit from Mexico.

“We are delighted to stage our event at COTA,” CREVENTIC’s Peter Freij says. “Opened in 2012, the circuit is a state-of-the-art facility, well-known as the venue of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, the North-American round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Grand Prix of the Americas MotoGP round and events of the IMSA SportsCar Championship, to name but a few.”

With its flagship event in Dubai, various races throughout Europe and now the inaugural event in North America, CREVENTIC has been organising races on three different continents this year. That provided an ideal opportunity for a separate ‘Championship of the Continents’, with the score from Dubai, the best score from any of the European rounds and the score from COTA being taken into account. To make the battle for the championship even more exciting, 1.5 times the regular number of points will be awarded for the race at COTA as this is the season finale.

In total, 44 teams have registered to participate in the 24-hour race at the Circuit Of The Americas. The A6 class, predominantly for GT3 cars, will account for a quarter of the grid, including 24H SERIES powered by Hankook championship winners Hofor Racing. A6 class cars expected to race in Texas are the Mercedes-AMG GT3, Porsche 911 GT3 R, Chevrolet Corvette C6-ZR1, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and the Audi R8 LMS.

Noteworthy drivers are regular IMSA class winners Jeroen Bleekemolen and Ben Keating in the #3 Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3, the reigning German Porsche Carrera Cup champion Dennis Olsen in the #13 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, the Le Mans-experienced quartet of Roald Goethe, Stuart Hall, Jamie Campbell-Walker and Nicolas Minassian in the #31 ROFGO Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 and multiple 24H SERIES race winners Daniel Allemann, Ralf Bohn and Robert and Alfred Renauer in the #911 Herberth Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Six Porsche 911 Cup cars have been entered in the 991 class, including 24H SERIES class champions PROsport Performance and its drivers Charles Putman, Charles Espenlaub and Joe Foster, plus Andy Pilgrim who is joining the team for the Texas round. The SP2 class is the second-largest with eight entries, including a pair of the new Mercedes-AMG GT4, plus three MARC silhouette cars, two Porsche 991 Cup cars and a BMW M3 F80 Endurance. The SP3 class has two Porsche Cayman GT4 MRs, two BMWs and two Aston Martin Vantage GT4s.

Four TCR cars lead the touring car contingent, with two SEAT Leons facing competition from two Peugeot 308 Racing Cup cars, entered by reigning 24H SERIES touring car champions Team Altran Peugeot. Five BMW 235i Racing cars are competing in the CUP1 class, with multiple cycling champion Tom Boonen as one of the drivers for the Belgian QSR Racingschool team. Three Hondas and one Peugeot RCZ in the A2 class round out the field.

After the popular rent-a-car rides on Thursday, 9 November, and three hours of optional private testing on Friday, 10 November, official track action starts with free practice from 14.00-15.30 hrs, followed by qualifying from 17.00-18.00 hrs and night practice from 19.00-20.30 hrs.

On Saturday, 11 November, the first part of the race will be held from 9.00-23.00 hrs, followed by an intervention under parc fermé conditions. Racing resumes on Sunday, 12 November, at 8.00 hrs, with the finish at 18.00 hrs (all times local, CET 7 hours later). Access at the track is free for spectators.

This year, CREVENTIC will be honouring its champions in style. The official end-of-season awards ceremony will be held at the ‘Night of the Champions’ in the stylish environment of ‘Le Mythe’, the restaurant overlooking the world-famous Eau Rouge corner of the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps, on Sunday evening, 8 October 2017, from 19.00 till 23.00 hrs.

The NM Racing Team Ginetta G55 GT4 (#215, Nikolay Dmitriev / Maxime Guillemat / Marc de Fulgencio / Ivan Pareras / Nil Montserrat) has won the 24H Barcelona.

Third on the road, and second in the TCR category for the MONLAU COMPETICIÓN SEAT Leon TCR (#107, Alvaro Bajo / Alba Cano Ramirez / Jurgen Smet / Jose Manuel Perez Aicart), guaranteed two Spanish teams finished on the overall podium in Barcelona.

The Bas Koeten Racing powered by Kawasaki SEAT Leon TCR (#155, Kristian Jepsen / Jan Sorensen / Martin van den Berge / Anders Fjordbach) would complete the TCR top three by finishing fourth overall, becoming the first of three Bas Koeten Racing entries to finish inside the top six.

Despite contact on the first lap dropping it to the tail of the field – as well as rear suspension failure caused by a collision during the final hour – a strong run from the Red Camel-Jordans.nl SEAT Leon TCR (#303, Ivo Breukers / Rik Breukers / Bert de Heus / JM Littman) meant the Dutch team rounded out the top 10 at the chequered flag.

Just ahead in eighth and ninth were the Pit Lane Competizioni Audi RS3 LMS DSG (#122, Zach Arnold / Roberto Ferri / Alberto Vescovi / John Filippì) and the Bonk Motorsport Audi RS3 LMS (#115, Hermann Bock / Max Partl / Philip Ellis).

The British-entered Ginetta would finish just two laps ahead of the EST 1 Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 (#981, Thomas Padovani / Raimo Kulli / Sten Pentus / Keijo Kaasik / Jukka Honkavuori), which led outright in the opening stages before a puncture dropped the Estonian team down the order.

The Stratton Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT4 (#237, Stuart Hall / Tom Black / David Tinn / Robin Marriott) also led outright during the opening hours of the 24H Barcelona only for electrical issues to drop the British team 25 laps off the leaders on its series debut.

The Cor Euser Racing BMW 120D (#71, Cor Euser / Jim Briody / Carel Krieger / Stan van Oord) came out on top in A2, despite running last in-class after early delays. The class polesitting RECY RACING TEAM meanwhile (#194 BMW 120D, Jan de Vocht / Johan van Loo / Wim Meulders / Thomas Piessens) would comfortably lead the first half of the race in A2 before succumbing to engine issues during the night.

Despite pulling to a smoking stop with less than an hour to go, the DUWO Racing BMW M235i Racing Cup meanwhile (#235, Jean-Marie Dumont / Alexander W. Wetzlich / Nicolas Schmit / Andrey Mukovoz / Stanislav Sidoruk) took a comfortable win in CUP1 over the QSR Racingschool BMW M235i Racing Cup (#154, Jimmy de Breucker / Mario Timmers / Rodrigue Gillion / Emilie Liljeström / Tommy Graberg) after power steering issues dropped the Belgian team 85 laps adrift.
