F1 driver Magnussen signs at Ganassi in IMSA for 2021

Soon-to-be former Haas Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen will be racing for Chip Ganassi in IMSA next year, it's been announced.

The Dane and current teammate Romain Grosjean are both making way after this season, with the American squad featuring an all-new line-up of Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher for 2021 it was confirmed this week.

Since his departure was announced, Magnussen has voiced a wish to race in the States, either in IndyCar or sportscars, following his father Jan.

And that has now been confirmed as the 28-year-old will race for Ganassi’s Cadillac Daytona Prototype international programme.

“If you are in professional racing anywhere in the world, you know the name Chip Ganassi and what it represents in motorsports,” said Magnussen on Thursday.

“Chip has built one of the best racing organisations on and off the track, and you can look back in history and see the tremendous record of success, especially as it relates to sports car racing.

“It’s a great opportunity for myself to team up with CGR, Renger and Cadillac. I can’t wait to get started, meet the team and begin preparations for the 2021 season.”

The first event is the famous Daytona 24 Hours in January.
