Trident Motorsport announced that the promising Dutch driver Bent Viscaal will drive for the team for the rest of the 2021 Formula 2 Championship.

The 21-year-old from Albergen experienced a positive series debut in the opening round of the season held at the end of March in Bahrain.

On that occasion, Viscaal repeatedly got close to the point zone, showing great potential. He drove a Trident Motorsport- prepared car in pre-season testing, posting competitive lap times, and on the last 10th of December, also at Bahrain’s desert circuit.

With a solid racing resume, Viscaal is coming from two valuable seasons in the FIA F3 Championship with one win, two podiums and one fastest lap to his name.

In 2018, he entered the Euroformula Open Championship, finishing in second place with one win, 12 podium finishes and four poles. Viscaal also took part in the Spanish F4 championship in 2017, when he claimed third place in points with five wins and 12 podiums.

He will be back to driving duties for the second round of the series between May 20th and 22nd at Monte Carlo, with F2 debuting its three-race format at the famed street venue.

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager Trident Motorsport: “Trident Motorsport extremely pleased to announce that Bent Viscaal will compete with the team in the remaining seven rounds of the FIA Formula 2 Championship.”

“At his first F2 foray in Bahrain, he quickly merged with our team, which provided him with the maximum possible support while learning the ropes in the series, and became increasingly competitive. I am sure that, by joining forces with such a quick and determined racer, we will do an excellent job and achieve remarkable results”.

Bent Viscaal, Trident Motorsport: :I’m very happy to join Trident for the rest of the season, It will be an absolute incredible challenge. I’m looking forward to doing it with the great Trident team.

“I think we’ve already made a lot of progress, testing and racing in Bahrain and I’m looking forward to unlock our potential, ensure what we are capable of and in general the adventure.”
