Verstappen lauds Red Bull RB19 as better ‘everywhere’

Max Verstappen has lauded the new Red Bull RB19 as better “everywhere” compared to last year.

The two-time world champion heads into 2023 very much as the favourite to add a third title to his name after an ominously strong pre-season test last week.

In fact, when asked about it, Verstappen can’t speak highly enough of Adrian Newey’s latest creation.

“Everywhere,” the Dutchman said on where the RB19 felt stronger than last year during Thursday’s Bahrain Grand Prix press conference.

“That is the aim. You always try to improve it. It feels nice, well balanced.

“Of course, every team lost a bit of performance with the floor but you always try to gain that back in a way.

“So there is a bit of a new balance with the car but it has been good.”

Verstappen though admits the potential Red Bull showed in the test is all for nothing if it can’t be replicated when it matters.

“We had three really good days, I think in general the progress we made over the winter was very good,” he continued.

“But we have to show it this weekend and not only this weekend but we have to continue to develop.

“The teams closest to us will improve, also for ourselves because we have to stay on top. We cannot afford to make many mistakes.”
