Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales ended the Brno test in third after having been a leader on the timesheets for most of the day, putting in 69 laps with a best of 1:55.335.

A big headline saw the rider from Roses try a new aero fairing that broke cover, concentrating on acceleration, as well as carbon forks. And Vinales didn’t try the new 2018 tyres Michelin brought to the test, preferring to concentrate on the feeling with the rubber available now.

“We tried a new fairing to favour acceleration. In Austria acceleration is very important, especially to get a good laptime.” Said the Spaniard

“We improved, I feel happy on the bike again. We also tried some new settings with the electronics. I’m very happy.” He surmised

“The carbon forks feel lighter, but the effect wasn’t the one we wanted, with what we’ll try in Austria we’ll see how it goes. We didn’t try the new Michelin tyres, we wanted to keep the feeling with these.” concluded Vinales
