Jerome D’Ambrosio is hopeful that Mahindra can improve their pace which has disappeared over the recent run of races.

Mahindra racing won the Marrakesh E-Prix in 2018-2019 season with D’Ambrosio, but the Indian team were not able to replicate that performance as they failed to score a point at a track that has been successful for them in the past.

D’Ambrosio knows that the car has good qualifying pace, but they are unable to convert that pace into points in the race.

“It’s a bit disappointing because we had a good qualifying and it’s a real pity not to finish in the points when you start there. I struggled – the first lap wasn’t great – I was into P9 and then just didn’t have the pace and I struggled to gain anything in Attack Mode. We need to work to understand how to manage it better,” said D’Ambrosio.

Pascal Wehrlein, who suffered from a puncture in the race, also felt the team need to find more pace in the car, but admitted he can’t make mistakes that will further hamper the team.

“The weekend was a bit difficult. We struggled a bit with the tyres on my car and in qualifying, I made a mistake which put me a bit on the backfoot for the race. In the race, I was making up some positions but then I got hit and sustained a puncture. That’s a shame because other drivers who were behind me up to that point finished quite easily in the points so the potential was there. We will work now on improving for the next race.”

Mahindra currently sits 10th in the teams’ standing with 17 points.
