Williams has opted to cancel a shakedown of its new car as concerns grow the FW42 may not be ready for testing.
A common trend with car launches so far this week has seen teams use last year’s chassis with 2019 wings fitted, highlighting that many are pushing their deadlines to be ready for next week’s first test in Barcelona.
And now the British team has become the first to change their plans in an effort to take to the track on Monday.
“As anyone would expect, we have had an extremely aggressive engineering programme over the winter,” deputy team Claire Williams reportedly wrote in a statement seen by RaceFans.
“As such, we have taken the decision not to run our car during our filming day this weekend in order to allow the team to maximise the time at the factory before we head to Barcelona for the first day of the test on February 18th.”

However, a Polish source, intently tracking Robert Kubica’s return to F1 this season, was quoted by GPFans as painting a more worrying picture of things at Grove.
“I do not have good news. Williams is very late with the construction of the car,” they claim.
