Max Verstappen doesn't believe there is a reason to temper expectations ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve typically hasn't suited Red Bull over the years with only two wins at the venue which prioritises top speed over downforce.
Even so, the Dutchman, who finished third last year, doesn't anticipate the Milton Keynes outfit will be too far off the pace.
“I think we already had some tracks with straights in it and we know that Ferrari for example, has great top speed so for them naturally, this becomes a better track," he told Crash.net.
“But first we have to wait and see how quick we are because at the moment it’s just speculation.
“Maybe it’s better than expected, you never know. We don’t have a big, big deficit. We know that we are not the quickest but we’ll try to fine-tune everything.”

Ahead of making the trip to Montreal, Verstappen also registered his satisfaction at the season so far, with four fourth places and two thirds to his name.
“I think it’s been going quite well,” he told his official website. “We’ve maximised our results so far, so we can’t really complain.
“Of course we always want to win and we’re not in a winning position yet, but we’re all pushing really hard to be able to do that soon.
“[Looking ahead,] it’s very difficult to anticipate,” the 21-year-old added.
“We know that we have to improve, but things can change from track to track. There are places where you are naturally a bit more competitive than at others.
“From my experience, what always works best is to wait and see and don’t set a lot of goals.
“Just work hard and approach every single weekend as an opportunity to win, and we’ll find out at the end of the season how it went.”
