Carlos Sainz Jr. has some words of wisdom for another son of a famous racing driver, Mick Schumacher, his name won’t be enough alone to reach Formula 1.
The relative paths of the two are slightly different as Sainz opted not to follow his father of the same name into rallying and instead focused on circuit racing, whereas Mick has the pressure of following seven-time champion Michael Schumacher up the motorsport ranks.
“At the beginning, the pressure is enormous,” Sainz told GPFans.net. “All the parents would have told their children in karting that to crush Mick Schumacher would be great.”
The 19-year-old has succeeded though and becoming European F3 champion last month was a big step forward.

Now a move upto F2 is expected next season, despite having enough superlicence points to be considered for F1, where the 2019 McLaren driver believes Mick must continue to prove himself.
“The name Schumacher can open the doors, but if he doesn’t win and the results do not come, he will never enter F1,” Sainz warned.
