An approaching typhoon could force McLaren and Renault to sit out Friday practice at least for the Japanese Grand Prix, it has been revealed.
The two teams have been unable to complete the full preparation of their cars at Suzuka as the oil and lubricants from supplier Castrol has yet to arrive and could be delayed as the weather arrives.
Rain is forecast both for Friday and Saturday in Japan with a reduced chance on Sunday and should the typhoon continue to hold up flights, it can’t be ruled out the two teams could miss qualifying too.
The only Renault-powered team unaffected is Red Bull as they partner Exxon Mobil and have a full stock ready at their disposal for what could be a tricky weekend to come.
