Campos Racing announced signing of David Schumacher for its Formula 3 Championship team.

17-year-old Schumacher will make his debut in one of the world’s toughest single-seater championships.

The German driver, son of former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher and nephew of seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, has already tasted success in single-seater series over the past two seasons.

Schumacher, who is determined to rewrite the legacy of his family name, claimed the Vice-Champion title in the 2018 Formula 4 UAE Championship with three wins to his name. He has also taken three wins in the Formula Regional European Championship this season.

The 2019 FIA Formula 3 season will draw to a close this weekend at Sochi Autodrom in Russia and the Spain-based team will enter their three-car assault for above-mentioned Schumacher teaming up with Alessio Deledda and Sebas Fernández.

David Schumacher (Driver of Campos Racing): “I am really happy to join a high-profile team such as Campos Racing. It will be my first time driving a car like this so, we should be realistic and put our focus on learning as much as possible.”

Adrián Campos (President of Campos Racing): “I would like to extend a very warm welcome to such a talented driver as David. I am sure that he is definitely promising a brilliant future in motorsport. We are aiming at helping him progress his career.”

Salvatore Gandolfo (CEO of Campos Racing and Monaco Increase Management founder): “It is a pleasure to get David on board for the season finale. He is a young talent and it would be nice to get a commitment in place for longer than Sochi.”
