The wait to see Formula 1 cars back on the Nurburgring goes on as bad weather saw Practice 1 cancelled on Friday morning.
It was always expected the Eifel mountains wouldn’t be a tropical paradise in October, but the rain and fog was almost impenetrable at times during the allotted 90-minutes of running.
As a result of the conditions, the medical helicopter was unable to take off never mind travel to the nearest hospital, therefore on safety grounds, the stewards had no choice but to abandon any hopes of starting the session.
That meant the much-anticipated first F1 practice for Mick Schumacher at Alfa Romeo was unable to take place, and the same was true for fellow F2 driver and Ferrari junior Callum Ilott at Haas.
Teams though will be hoping the fog does eventually lift to allow the drivers at least some running on the Nurburgring in the afternoon.
