As expected, Ferrari has confirmed they will use their ‘right to review’ Sebastian Vettel’s penalty at the Canadian Grand Prix.

Last Thursday it was announced the Italian team would not be appealing the decision to penalise the German five seconds for an incident with Lewis Hamilton in Montreal.

However, as they continued to gather evidence, it was anticipated they would put forward their case under the ‘right to review’ regulation with that deadline expiring this Sunday.

Under this procedure, Ferrari must present a ‘significant and new element’ which wasn’t available at the time of the penalty being given and submit that for the stewards to reconsider.

It isn’t known how likely it is this review will succeed but what it will do is continue to put an asterisk next to Hamilton’s controversial fifth win of the season for a week or two yet.
