Following illness on Friday at the British GP, Silverstone didn’t perk up much for Jonas Folger after the German suffered a huge crash in Warm Up and subsequently didn’t start the race.
Uninjured but heading to hospital for a precautionary CT scan, Folger was given the all clear and headed home to get ready for Misano.
Previously honing in on teammate Johann Zarco in the standings following a stunning second place finish at the German GP, Folger has now lost some ground in the fight to be Rookie of the Year after sitting out Silverstone and suffering a mechanical fault in the race in Austria – but he’ll be back to full fitness and raring to get the show on the road at Misano, where he’s scored solid points and top ten results since his first visit in the 125cc World Championship in 2008. Also planning to try out the aero fairing again, Folger is sure Italy will see a turnaround.
“Of course I am looking forward to this weekend after the tough time that we had at Silverstone but I am sure that we are going to have more luck in Italy.” Said Folger
“I have great memories at Misano, including a pole position in Moto3 and some good results in the past.”
It’s a track that I really like a lot and perhaps we will try the new aerodynamic parts again because I think we will have an advantage with the winglets at Misano.” He added
“I am sure that we will have a better time than the last three races and I hope to finish the weekend with a lot of points.”
